Multi-Criteria Decision-Making System for Wind Farm Site-Selection Using Geographic Information System (GIS): Case Study of Semnan Province, Iran

Selecting the best place for constructing a renewable power plant is vital issue that can be considered site-selection problem. Various factors are involved in selecting location plant. Therefore, it categorizes as multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) In this study, site selection of wind investigated central province Iran, Semnan. The main criteria classifying various parts were selected and pairwise compared using experts’ opinions field. Furthermore, multiple restrictions applied according to local constitutional rules regulations. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used weigh criteria, obtained weights, speed, slope essential criteria. Moreover, geographic information system (GIS) apply weighted restrictions. province’s area classified into nine classes results. Based on restrictions, 36.2% total unsuitable, mainly located north part province. 2.68% (2618 km2) 4.98% (4857 ninth eightieth classes, respectively, which locations farm. results show that, although speed most distance from facilities communication routes has an extreme impact initial costs final study reliable help develop farm industry Iran.
